Situated on multiple sites within the south-western region, the facility will have capacity to carry out up to 20,000 clinical procedures every year, providing significantly increased medical capacity within the South West region of the England.
The Avon, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire ISTC is one of seven "phase 2" contracts to be awarded so far by the Department of Health. They are designed to bring new working practices into the NHS whilst cutting patient waiting lists considerably.
The contract was awarded to the UK Specialist Hospitals group, with whom SAM has worked previously.
Summit structured the transaction as a lease, the second time such a structure had been used for what started out as a conventional Public Private Partnership (‘PPP’) contract.
KBC Bank NV is providing the head funding for the project.
